Blog Post #7

I visited the Chiles High School website to find teacher websites, but surprisingly not many teachers had them available (at least not as many as I expected). I did try and find other schools that included teacher websites in their departments section, but did not see any! However, I really enjoyed looking at the websites that were available. Most included information about themselves, an announcements page, and a calendar with important dates. I think that this is a great resource to provide to parents and students; none of my teachers ever provided websites but I think it is an accessible, user friendly way to get information across (and much more environmentally friendly than sending paper newsletters home!). Here is the link to the website I visited! https://www.leonschools.net/chiles

I can envision myself using a lot of technology in order to accomplish my responsibilities effectively. As a future teacher, particularly looking to focus on early childhood education, I think that using technology in and out of the classroom is a must. It helps ease routine tasks, create graphics/resources to enhance learning, and allows you to communicate with parents efficiently. Some specific teacher productivity tools that I plan to use thus far are definitely Padlet, Miro, and Canva. I think these are all great resources that can be used by ANY teacher, but they fit my needs perfectly. Whether it is lesson plans, fun slideshows, or interactive classroom activities, I know these tools can help me be a more effective teacher.

I really enjoyed Assignment 2! I've never assessed a website so thoroughly, so I think this was a great example for me on how to pick the right websites for my students (and myself)! I do think that navigating the design elements on Canvas was difficult at times, such as creating the headers on the home page, partly because I have never navigated any tools like that on Canvas or any platforms like it. Despite some struggle in the design aspects, everything else went very smoothly and I think it is a great resource to use for group projects. When we are given the freedom to choose our own sources for design or completion, not everyone always has access to the same platforms or there are issues with accessibility. With the Canvas group, everything was very clear and I'm sure it made it easier for grading to have everyone's assignments uniform and in one place!
