The Web Design assignment allowed me to develop a very useful new skill: how to layout and organize a website. Prior to this assignment, I had no experience with website design, so this was a great way for me to learn some aspects of it. Some design principles that I made sure to use when designing my website were accessibility, simplicity, and consistency. For example, I made sure to keep the fonts that I used consistent (and follow the CRAP principle), make my website easy to navigate with clear directions and embedded links, and aligned all of my text and images to ensure that they looked neat. While I enjoyed the creative aspect of this assignment, I found it challenging at times to embed certain items or make my website aesthetic and functional according to the rubric. I can definitely use my newfound skills in my future career in creating my own class websites, digital newsletters, or interactive assignments.
A creative way to use QR codes in my classroom is incorporating them into reading activities to aid in independent reading time. I could place QR codes inside book covers that led to read-alouds or other videos on the book for students to watch if they need extra assistance in reading or comprehending the material. This could make reading more interactive and allow for independent choices to be made when reading (to scan or not to scan). This could be used for multiple subjects or around the classroom as well, as an aid and resource to students for extra information as needed.
Case Study: A teacher uses an AI-powered grading tool to provide feedback on student essays. However, some students and parents raise concerns about bias in the AI’s grading and the lack of personalized feedback. The teacher must decide whether to continue using the AI tool, modify its use, or stop using it entirely.
I would address this case by modifying my use of AI. I would use AI for simple feedback, such as grammar mistakes and sentence structure, not for the entire grading process. I would then personally go through each essay and evaluate it myself on a deeper, more personalized level. This hybird approach
would ensure that each student is receiving detailed feedback, while also benefiting me by automating the routine, mundane aspects of grading a paper.
The Alignment of everything, especially the home page is fantastic. The class schedule and color scheming is also very well done. The about me page also has a variety of different designs for contrast, and a good balance of alignment with the bulleted list under the About me section. Overall, this is very well done.
ReplyDeleteHi Abigail! Your website is so cute! The pictures you use make it feel very welcoming and fun. I had no issues navigating the website, and the information is organized in a cohesive manner. I really like how you included your classroom policies, and a trip to the zoo sounds so fun! Overall, great job!
ReplyDeleteHi there! Your website looks very professional and polished. I really liked your use of contrast—the bold images and dark text over light backgrounds make everything easy to read. You also used repetition well, especially in the font styles and section layouts, which helps the site feel unified. The alignment is clean, and all elements seem to be thoughtfully placed, which adds to the site’s overall organization. One suggestion would be to adjust the proximity of text to images—sometimes they feel a little close together, and adding more spacing could improve readability. Great job overall!
