One of the standards on technology was HE.3.PHC.2.3, Understand the positive and negative impacts technology may have on health. This standard emphasizes the importance of education students on the different ways we can use technology and how it can be beneficial or harmful. For example, technology can allow people to play violent video games and thus justify violence in real life, but it can also allow people to make new friends online through games. I do feel prepared to implement this standard, but I think it could be difficult in too young of an age group. Based on my current skill set, I think that I would have to prepare a lot before thge lesson to make sure what I implement aligns with the standard properly since I am not very accustomed to using standards yet.
When looking at the CPALMS website, I chose to find a standard for the Kindergarten age level and science subject. I chose SC.K.N.1.2, Make observations of the natural world and know that they are descriptors collected using the five senses. Under this standard, there are so many resources, including what specific lessonplans and activities to do that align with the standard. In my teaching, I could definitely use these resources to make sure I am teaching my students the information they need to know. It is also hard to choose the activities that go with a lesson sometimes, especially as an elementary school teacher that has to keep the class extra engaged. These resources really aid in that and give a lot of good examples on what to do in your class.
While working on the Newsletter Design assignment, I learned a lot of new skills on how to use Canva and MS Word. Before this class, I did not have much experience with either application. Now, I can use MS Word much more eloquently and I can navigate different tools on both apps so much easier. In the future, I think I would add more graphics to my newsletter, as making them fit after adding my text was difficult because it would affect the formatting. As an Elementary Education major, I will definitely be using all of these skills a lot since I will have to make many graphic design pieces such as newsletters!
