In this class, I hope to learn more about the technology programs that are used by teachers! As an Elementary Education major, I know that the things I learn in this class will be very beneficial for my future. As of now, I am not very aware of techological pieces that are used by teachers and I am very excited to be exposed to so many new things that I can use for years to come! Even two weeks in, I have learned so many tips regarding technology that I know I will use frequently. I think this class will be helpful for me as a student here and as a teacher once I graduate!

When it comes to prior experiences with technology in an educational setting, I don't have much to offer. I have used platforms similar to Canvas in the past and graphic design apps, but I do not have much experience from a teacher perspective rather than a students. I was a camp counselor at the Orlando Science Center for 4 years, so during that time I did have to utilize things like Pinterest for ideas for projects and YouTube to play videos or songs for the kids. Other than simple apps on the app store, I do not have much experience with more niche aspects of educational technology like creating blogs, VR, or interactive online learning activities. 

Currently, my personal learning network primarily consists of social media platforms like Pinterest or YouTube and past teachers I have had. During my time here at FSU, I hope to branch out and network with other people in my profession to use them as a resource to learn off of. I love to learn new things, especially from those who know better than I do, and I am very excited to expand my knowledge of technology! The learning resources that I currently use regularly to allow myself to learn are Canva for graphic design needs, my planner to make sure I am managing my time and completing all of my assignments, and MS Word to take notes in my classes or write papers!

    Hi Abigail! I l think Pinterest is a great resource for things inside and outside of the classroom, I love that you were able to use it for inspiration for camp activities.I agree with you about taking time here at FSU to branch out and network with people. Even within my first semester I have met people in the later years of my major that have been super helpful in giving me an idea of what to expect in the years to come!

    I am also an elementary education major. I am also not too aware of the technology in the classrooms, and I am excited to learn more about it.

    Learning about your past experience with graphic design apps was very interesting to learn about. Canva is a great tool to have, and will definitely help as you grow into a teacher!

So far, I have really enjoyed blogging in this class! I think it is a really good way to reflect on what we learned in class throughout the week and to look back on if we want to recall what we have learned so far. While I do think the workload is a little bit much for a simple reflection, I do understand the benefits of blogging in this class. As a future teacher, I think Blogger is a really good resource to use in the classroom (i.e., posting blogs and sharing the url with parents and allowing them to read and respond to your posts).  For the Generative AI assignment, I utilized ChatGPT and prompted it to make me a lesson plan for a Kindergarten Science class. As it gave me responses, I asked follow up questions to make sure I was getting a well rounded lesson that included everything required of it.      One of the standards on technology was HE.3.PHC.2.3, Understand the positive and negative impacts technology may have on health. This standard emphasizes the importance of education students on the different ways we can use technology and how it can be beneficial or harmful. For example, technology can allow people to play violent video games and thus justify violence in real life, but it can also allow people to make new friends online through games. I do feel prepared to implement this standard, but I think it could be difficult in too young of an age group.  In middle and high school, my schools primarily used Google. I did some early college credit that required MS applications, but it was in very small doses compared to the amount I used Google services. When coming to college this Fall, I was still very new to all MS applications and had to adapt to them in order to do my assignments. I prefer Google Docs due to the autosave feature and I do think it is more user friendly, but I am more used to MS Word at this point. There was definitely a learning curve at first though!      The ISTE Standard that is most meaningful to me is 2.1 Learner. I believe that there is always more to learn, even when you are the teacher. Working with others and doing research on new things you can utilize in your classroom is very crucial if you want to be a good teacher.
